10501 - Credit Controller Job Spec
To manage the collection of outstanding debt, minimise outstanding debt on prior column. Liaise with customers and branches on issues that may hinder the timely debt collection process. Liaise with senior staff on any credit violations. You will be assigned an individual ledger, however this is part of a team which needs to meet departmental targets to achieve success.
Duties / Responsibilities
*To ensure debts are collected when falling due,
*To ensure overdue letters are sent out in line with the Company's timetable,
*To ensure accounts are placed on stop in accordance with Company's timetable,
*To ensure all outstanding invoice queries are resolved and collected expediently by liaising with the Branch and/or customer and that all relevant resolutions are documented,
*To ensure that any high risk accounts and brought to the attention of the Supervisor or Credit Manager,
*To ensure all overdue accounts are passed to our solicitors at the appropriate time and free from queries that may hinder legal action,
*Review of accounts which have exceeded credit limits, where appropriate liaise with senior staff,
*Assess when to place account on stop and when to pass to the legal department,
*To try all means to obtain payment without resource of placing on stop or taking legal action.
Reporting to: Credit Manager / Supervisors
Skills / Experience / Qualifications
*Experience with high volume Credit Control within a large commercial company,
*Excellent customer service background, articulate and a good problem solver. Must be comfortable handling a call load of approx. 50-70 clients per day,
*Good knowledge of Credit Control practices & procedures and balance sheet knowledge,
*The ability to prioritise & take initiative and work well in a small team,
*IT literate (MS Office incl. Excel),
*GCSE / Member of Institute of Credit Management or studying towards.
*Appointment Type: Temporary (long-term sickness cover), possible temp-to-perm
*Pay Rate: £8.00 - £9.50 per hour
*Hours: Full-time Mon-Fri 8:45am to 5:00pm (10mins morning break & 45mins lunch)
*Holiday, Pension & NI Contribution
