Job Description

Our client a leading service sector company operating throughout the UK has an opening for a Management Accountant.

Key purpose:

*To be responsible for the financial accounts of various client contracts.
*To produce project based monthly management accounts.
*Integral role in monthly forecasting and annual budget preparation processes.
*Manage and report the budgets of various client contracts.
*Business Partner the Director and Facilities Manager of various client contracts.
*Assist in the mentoring and development of junior members of the Management Accounts Team.

Key Accountabilities:

*Develop an in-depth knowledge of each of the multiple projects client contract across a varied number of business sectors.
*Support the provision of business plans, results and forecasts for the projects.
*Business Partner the Operations Team as required, to deliver a comprehensive financial and management accounting service to the business areas (financial and non-financial). This will be a mobile role with a minimum of six days per month out on site (fo which a pool car will be made available).
*Prepare and provide commentary on the periodic financial performance of individual projects and sectors against objectives (including budgets and forecasts).
*Prepare and distribute appropriate financial reports to budget holders to support financial control and aid performance management and target achievement.
*Prepare and provide a reconciliation including a detailed commentary of a number of Balance Sheet Control Accounts such as Accruals, Prepayments and Deferred Income.
*Provide awareness of financial and corporate governance standards, and support and monitor compliance using financial systems and technical expertise
*Assist in supporting the timely collection of project debt.
*Provision of management accounts to clients and commentary on performance to internal customers.
*Responsible for calculating, presenting and applying all contractual increases to the client contract including annual increases and variations.
*Prepare and monitor the budget for various contracts that includes the calculation of the total budget available to spend and monitor actual spend against forecast. Deputise for the Senior Management Accountant when required.
*Offer guidance and advice to the junior members of the Management Accounts team as they progress through their studies and be seen as an expert in the team.

Competencies, core qualities and attributes

*Qualified Accountant with at least 2 years PQE (MAAT, CIMA / ACCA, ACCA).
*Advanced data management and Excel skills- applied use of Excel to advanced level (macros, pivots, reporting, queries etc.) preferred.
*Experience of period end processes and practice, along with forecasting and budgeting.
*Preferably experience in reviewing contracts and extracting the relevant financial elements.
*Ability to disseminate information across all levels of the business.
*Excellent attention to detail.
*Willingness to be hands-on and have a 'can-do' attitude.
*Well rounded individual; organised and self-motivated.
*Preferably a background in Facilities Management, PFI contracts and/or project based service industries.
*Passionate and enthusiastic about customer service and exceeding customers' expectations.
*Experience in mentoring and developing junior members of staff.
