11877 – Accountant Job Spec

Location: Leicester

The Role

Our Client – a construction-sector business based in Leicester – is seeking to recruit an experienced Accountant on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Posting the bank transactions onto Sage 50, as well as bank reconciliations for several Companies,
  • Post credit-card statement & reconcile, maintaining fixed-asset spreadsheet incl. additions & disposals, preparation & posting of monthly depreciation & agreeing to P&L / balance sheet,
  • Reconcile all balance sheet nominal codes, including petty cash / floats & recently new revenue codes. Agree monthly payroll nominal report & post journal,
  • Month-end reporting, assisting the Management team with tax & compliance, preparation of statutory accounts & audit packs for a range of entities across separate year-ends,
  • Assisting with monthly P&L reviews, budgets & forecasts,
  • Assisting with preparing detailed monthly P&L & balance sheet reports, reporting to Directors for associated companies,
  • Preparation of weekly cashflow statements & controlling expenditure / cash flow for associated companies, and assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts & statutory accounts,
  • Assisting with Payroll & CIS,
  • Credit control and management of credit limits.


The Right Person

  • Qualified OR Part-Qualified AAT, ACCA, CIMA or Qualified By Experience,
  • Possess demonstrable experience in accounts preparation together with an excellent knowledge of VAT rules,
  • Advanced knowledge of Sage 50 is essential,
  • Knowledge of Payroll & CIS would be advantageous,
  • Effective communication skills, confident in presenting financial information to senior management,
  • Numerate, analytical with a superb attention to detail,
  • Excellent planning, organisation and deadline time keeping skills,
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, able to fit into a dynamic and fast-moving accounting team within a larger organisation.



  • Appointment Type: Permanent
  • Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (subject to experience)
  • Hours: Full-Time
  • Holiday 21 Days + Bank Holidays
