12145 – Accounts Assistant (FTC) Job Spec

Location: Leicester

Summary of the Role

Our client – a manufacturing organisation based in Melton Mowbray – is seeking a Accounts Assistant to join their team for a full-time 12-month fixed-term-contract. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for purchase ledger, so we are seeking a knowledgeable, tenacious individual who will be able to control & resolve AP queries. In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Daily GRN reconciliations,
  • Chasing purchase ledger credit notes for shortages / price queries,
  • Foster good working relationships with operational and shared services teams, ensuring a meaningful cycle of feedback on the underlying causes of invoice queries.
  • Assist with building the groundwork for process improvement,
  • Raising ad-hoc purchase orders,
  • Month-end posting of open orders / open invoices for financial accounts,
  • Weekly sales reconciliation,
  • Distribution of weekly sales reports.


The Right Person

  • Immediately available OR on short notice,
  • Graduate with experience working in accounts / part-qualified AAT,
  • Experience working within a busy accounts department to tight deadlines in manufacturing preferential,
  • Effective communication skills, able to explain basic financial concepts (purchase orders, invoicing, goods receipting etc) to non-financial teams,
  • A good understanding of accounting double-entry, in both profit & loss and balance sheet,
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, able to fit into a dynamic and fast-moving accounting team within a larger organisation,
  • Excellent planning, organisational & deadline time keeping skills,
  • Experience using MS Office is essential. Knowledge of System 21 and / or Microsoft Dynamix (AX) preferred.
