11728 – Audit Senior / Assistant Manager Job Spec

Location: Leicester

Summary

We have a superb opportunity for an experienced qualified practice accountant to join our Client – a major audit, accounting and consulting firm based in Leicester – on a full-time permanent basis. As an Audit Assistant Manager, you will lead and take ownership of multiple audit engagements, being responsible for overseeing and developing junior staff. You will work closely with Clients, upholding the exceptional standards of service for which the group is well-known. You will join a large audit network, managing a portfolio of predominantly privately-owned business Clients with revenues ranging from circa £10m to £150m.

 

The Role

  • Assisting & advising the audit team on the formulation of audit strategy / planning,
  • Managing & controlling audit assignments from planning stages through to finalisation of reports in line with agreed timescales,
  • Controlling time spent & monitoring actual time within budget,
  • Act as point-of-contact for engagement Leads & Clients, ensuring both are kept fully informed of any issues arising / progress of audits,
  • Ensure standards & procedures are maintained by the team & complete audit file presented with review points clearly,
  • Draft audit opinion summary for the Manager & Partner, along with any reporting documents incl. group reporting & audit committee papers,
  • Leading & supervising an audit team, allocating work to team members and ensuring the team completes work to quality standards and in a timely manner,
  • Providing on-the-job training to Audit Assistants & Seniors, giving consideration to the needs & skills of those under supervision, organising tasks & responsibilities,
  • Reviewing the work of Seniors & providing informal feedback throughout the fieldwork stage,
  • Provide constructive feedback on completion of team member performance appraisals,
  • Build strong working relationships with the Client, ensuring any problems or requests are dealt with promptly,
  • Responding to the needs of Clients and team members,
  • Ensuring clients are billed according to agreed billing plans,
  • Assisting with business development by working with audit colleagues & colleagues in other service lines, identifying & capitalising on opportunities / prospects for new work,
  • Assess & produces high quality work in line with the Firm's policies / processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.

 

The Right Person

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (ideally min. 3 years post-qual)
  • Experience of leading external audits from planning through to completion,
  • Relevant privately-owned business sector audit experience,
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS102 and IFRS,
  • Experience of managing, training and coaching audit trainees,
  • Experience of using audit software / Microsoft packages,
  • Excellent written & verbal communication / presentation skills,
  • Actively seek to enhance expertise & knowledge, developing new initiatives & methodologies,
  • Ability to identify issues through sound analysis & application of commercial acumen in all situations,
  • Evidence of providing assistance, sharing experience & providing meaningful feedback / proactively supporting the development of others,
  • Take ownership of projects… an effective delegator to others within the team, taking responsibility for quality control,
  • Develop a network of Client contacts in the wider market.

 

Package

  • Appointment Type: Permanent
  • Salary: £30,000 - £38,500 (subject to experience)
