12172 – Buyer / Inventory Controller Job Spec

Summary of the Role
Our client – an established manufacturing SME based in South Leicestershire – is seeking an experienced Inventory/Stock Controller to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Planning Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing of all raw materials & packaging stocks using manual & Sage manufacturing tools,
- The ordering of and maintaining of sufficient stock of all raw materials / packaging,
- Sourcing & gaining approval for new materials,
- Maintaining & developing good communications / relationships with key materials suppliers & stakeholders,
- Analysis & control of company spending on materials within set targets,
- Managing several warehouse units.
Other key duties include:
- Raising purchase orders using Sage & emailing to suppliers,
- Input deliveries into Sage system to complete purchase orders. Match delivery notes with purchase orders / invoices for sign-off by Ops Director, ensuring all details are correct,
- Raw material control – manage lowest stock holding to ensure full supply to production at all times,
- Manage intake controls at Warehouse (incl. rejections, supplier claims etc)
- Develop Sage manufacturing system to record stock management & ultimately assist with planning,
- Raising any price issues, supply issues or invoice queries with suppliers,
- Ensuring all materials are purchased from approved suppliers in accordance with relevant H&S legislation and the technical team,
- Liaise with Production Management across all levels on a daily basis to ensure materials are available for plans, and liaise with NPD / Product Technicians adopting a pro-active approach in relation to introducing new raw materials & products,
- Participate in, and help with, planning & achieving of all commercial targets,
- Monthly reporting of performance versus KPI’s for stock holding, supplier compliance & savings,
- Any reasonable requests made of you by your manager.
