Job Description

Company Accountant - Maternity cover 12 Months

Our client is a small subsidiary of an international group. The role would be extended to start early to ensure a 6-8 week handover period (14 months). It is a growing business where there is a potential that at the end of maternity cover, a job can be created for the right person.
To start early-mid June 2019.
The business is a growing SME but also oversees the accounts function of its' sister company in the US and has sales offices in Europe.

The successful applicant will have duties involving but not limited to:
Monthly accounts (x 2 companies UK & US)
*Bank reconciliations
*Journals for prepayments and accruals
*Calculate Goods in Transit
*Revalue debtors/creditors with current exchange rate
*Report to group
Payroll
*Run monthly payroll (20 employees)
*Pay HMRC and employees
Bookkeeping and banking for 2 companies.
*Make monthly payments
*Collect and send information to overseas accountants
Pension
*Submit, pay and manage company pension scheme
VAT
*Intrastat, EC Sales Lists, VAT returns
Audits
*Quarterly: Provide information to parent company accountants for them to perform their quarterly audit
*Annual: Provide reports and information for UK auditors
Annual Accounts
*Prepare financial statements for the accountants.
Forecasting
*Prepare forecasts for new financial year (FY2020)
Reports to Management
*Sales reports
*Actuals vs Forecasts monthly analysis of accounts
Training
*Help assistant accountant with ongoing training
Other Ad-hock tasks
*Reviewing supplier/customer agreements
*HR
*Insurance review
*Banking
*Prepare cashflows
*P11d's
*Company Secretarial such as Confirmation Statements

The ideal applicants will also possess the following skills:
*Previously used Sage 50 or similar accounts software
*Experienced in running payroll
*Good/Advanced knowledge of Excel
*Experience in a similar role for a minimum of two years
*Able to multitask over several businesses
*Able to manage own time and meet deadlines
*Good attention to detail and problem solving
*ACCA / CIMA or equivalent qualification preferred,or qualified by experience
