12078 – Head of Accounts (FTC) Job Spec

Location: Lutterworth

Summary of the Role

Our client – an established and well-respected commercial consultancy business based in Lutterworth – is seeking an experienced head of accounts to join their small finance team on a 12-month fixed-term-contract (maternity cover). The Head of Accounts will work with another Management Accountant. It is expected that as much as possible, all positions will be able to cover for each other at times of annual leave / sick leave. The successful candidate will have:

  • Full responsibility for company accounts, producing monthly management accounts, complete year-end accounts incl. adjustments prior to external accountant sign off,
  • Responsibility for client accounts (commercial & residential property management),
  • Maintaining 60+ client bank current accounts, maintaining deposit accounts,
  • Regular invoicing for rent & service charges incl. collection from tenants / owners,
  • Monthly statement & regular reporting to clients,
  • Year-end accounts for the clients’ Limited companies,
  • Thorough knowledge of service charges, reconciliations & RICS legislation,
  • VAT return calculations & submission on behalf of clients,
  • Recharges of utilities / ad hoc charges.
  • Processing / payment of supplier invoices,
  • Bank reconciliations,
  • Communicating with clients & tenants via telephone, email & letter,
  • General housekeeping of client files & archiving in accordance with physical / digital filing system to ensure full records are kept of all client transactions / correspondence,
  • Office duties: answering the phone, greeting visitors, dealing with correspondence (incoming & outgoing), making appointments etc.

 

The Right Person

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or finalist,
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar-level position,
  • Ability to work on own initiative as head of the department, taking ultimate responsibility for the whole department,
  • Candidates who have operated under RICS regulations / processes would be advantageous,
  • Show a willingness to assist other team members as and when needed,
  • Excellent planning, organisation & deadline time keeping skills,
  • Strong IT skills incl. Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook to an advanced standard. Experience using property management accounts software (Propman) preferred.

  • Appointment Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term-Contract (maternity cover / possible perm role)
  • Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 per annum (subject to experience)
  • Discretionary Bonus
  • Hours: Full-Time Mon-Fri 9:00am – 5:30pm (1hr Lunch)
