About the role
Our client is a long-established civil engineering contractor operating across the Midlands and East of England.
As a result of ongoing growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supply Chain Manager to join its management team.
This role would suit an ambitious candidate with solid experience working as a senior procurement professional within the construction industry, who is looking to further his/her career within an established and successful company.
Leading an established team, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the strategy and management of the company's procurement function.
The individual will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the company's procurement systems, processes and tools to support the delivery of cost reduction, supply chain continuity, best practice and compliance to applicable, laws and company policies.
The responsibilities of the role include:
*Maintaining and developing supply chain relationships
*Providing a lean procurement process to support the site delivery requirements of the business from an operational and commercial point of view, including the delivery of cost savings
*Maintaining a system of supplier / subcontractor feedback to improve overall supply chain performance
*Supporting the Estimating team to deliver cost savings during the tender preparation period
*Providing demonstrable cost savings throughout the business from a high quality supply chain
*Reporting on supply chain performance via profit/loss and other reporting mechanisms
*Overseeing negotiation and placing of orders for live contracts
*Management of all supply chain agreements including periodic rebates
*Line management of the Purchasing team
What we're looking for
In order to be considered for the role, you will have:
*Seven or more years' experience in a similar role within the construction / civil engineering industry
*HND / degree in construction or civil engineering
*Membership of a recognised professional organisation
*CSCS card
*Full UK driver's licence
*Demonstrable experience working on civil engineering projects
*Good working knowledge of highway works, deep and shallow drainage, bridgeworks and other general civil engineering works
*Commercial acumen
*Negotiation skills
*People management skills
*IT literacy, including MS Office
Salary £40-45K
